Endurance and Territory Spirit Shine at Iconic NT Standard Distance Triathlon

26 May 2025

The NT Standard Distance Triathlon has long stood as a true test of endurance, heat, and heart in Australia’s Top End with this year’s edition was no exception. From the deep water swim to the final stride across the finish line, competitors gave it their all on one of the most iconic and demanding courses the Northern Territory has to offer, set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Bennett.

The race began with a deep water start, launching athletes into a 1.5km freshwater swim, consisting of two laps around an anti-clockwise 750m triangle. As pre-race nerves gave way to adrenaline, the field quickly found their rhythm under the Territory’s expansive skies. First male across the line was Andrew Hermitage in a time of 2:31:33 with the first female being Kylie Scholz cross the line in a time of 2:41:50.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the incredible volunteers who lined the course, offering encouragement, ice-cold sponges, and warm smiles. Their support provided a vital lifeline to tired legs and determined minds, a perfect tribute to National Volunteer Week!
