Athletes delivered inspiring performances at the Victorian Standard Distance Championships, held as part of Race 4 of the 2XU Triathlon Series in Sandringham on Sunday.
The event also marked a milestone as the inaugural VIC Club Championships. Clubs from across the state brought energy, colour and camaraderie to Sandringham, battling it out for ultimate bragging rights. Tents were buzzing, teammates were cheering from the sidelines, and every finish line crossed contributed valuable points toward club standings. Peak Athlete Coaching claimed the Small Club Champion title (0–50 members), while Inclusive Sports Training secured Medium Club Champion honors (51–100 members). In the Large Club division (100+ members), it was a shared victory, with Beckworth Racing and Nunawading Tri Club both crowned champions in a standout result. Beckworth Racing further cemented their dominance by taking out the Club Age Group Racing Champions title. Inclusive Sports Training delivered an exceptional all-round performance, earning both the Club Para and Multiclass Racing Champions title and the Club Women in Triathlon Champions title.
Adding another layer of significance, Race 4 was also a World Qualifying Event (WQE) for the 2026 Australian Age Group Team. Athletes were racing not only for state titles and club honours, but for the opportunity to represent Australia on the world stage in Pontevedra, Spain.
With national selection on the line and club pride at stake, Sandringham delivered an electric day of racing. In our elite field, Tom Speed and Skye Wallace both secured first place, setting the benchmark in commanding performances that reflected the depth of Victorian triathlon.
It was a defining day of championship racing, club pride and international qualification opportunities. To every athlete, club, volunteer and supporter, thank you for making it such an incredible day.
