Fresh off another commanding World Triathlon Championship Series victory, World Champion Matt Hauser will look to continue his outstanding season when the world’s best descend on London this weekend for round seven of the 2026 WTCS season.
Hauser arrives in London in scintillating form after claiming victories at Hamburg and Yokohama. The win in Hamburg was a historic hat-trick, no man had ever achieved the feat before.
Aside from an unfortunate crash in Alghero that interrupted his momentum, the Queenslander has been the form athlete in 2026 as he continues to build valuable momentum towards the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
“I had a great result in Hamburg, so hopefully I’ll be able to back it up and keep progressing,” Hauser said.
“I’m coming off the back of an altitude camp pre-Hamburg, I’m feeling the gains from that and doing well.”
“I haven’t raced on a London course since Super League, you know, back a couple years ago. I’m looking forward to getting back to the big city and racing against the best in the world.”
Australia’s men’s squad features plenty of depth, with experienced Olympian Luke Willian lining up alongside Callum McClusky and rising star Brayden Mercer.
Willian has enjoyed a strong season of his own with a World Cup victory and consistent WTCS performances, while McClusky and Mercer continue to gain invaluable experience against the world’s best as Australia’s next generation continues its rise on the international stage.
Willian currently sits inside the top 10 of the World Triathlon World Rankings and eighth in the WTCS standings just behind Hauser in 7th, highlighting his consistency across the opening half of the season.
McClusky continues to establish himself as one of Australia’s WTCS contenders, producing a breakthrough fifth-place finish at the World Cup in Chengdu before recording 12th at WTCS Quiberon and 17th in Hamburg against world-class fields.
Sophie Malowiecki will represent Australia in the elite women’s race gaining invaluable experience racing at the WTCS level, after her breakthrough 2nd place finish at the World Triathlon Cup in Haikou earlier this year.
The WTCS returns to London for the first time since 2022. Racing takes place on Saturday, July 25, around the iconic Royal Docks precinct.
