TreX Snowy Mountains will host the 2024 Australian Cross Triathlon Championships this Sunday 25 February, in the heart of Australia’s iconic Snowy Mountains.

The TreX Cross Triathlon Snowy Mountains stands out with its spectacular location, renowned fast flowing single track mountain biking and challenging off-road running, making it one of the premier events in Australia.

This race, part of the National TreX Cross Triathlon Series, takes place at the picturesque Lake Crackenback Resort and Spa. Starting at an altitude of 1100m, with the iconic Mt Kosciuszko as a backdrop, the course is set to challenge participating athletes.

Over 200 Age Group athletes are set to race over the weekend, with Aussie titles up for grabs on Sunday, as well as the opportunity to qualify for the Australian Age Group Team headed to the 2025 Multisport World Championships in Pontevedra, Spain.

Racing for the Australian Championships will get underway from 9.30am on Sunday, with a mix of seasoned campaigners and Australian Age Group representatives featured on the start list.

In the Elite field, Aussie off-road royalty Ben Allen and Jacqui Allen will have a target on their backs and with Australian Representatives Tom Fisher and Dean Cane in the chase, and Townsville selection on the table.

Elites who podium in the Australian Championships will also have the opportunity to be nominated by automatic selection for the Townsville 2024 World Multisport Championships to be held in August, 2024.

The Course

Swim | 1500M (2 x 750m LAPS)
The swim takes place in the enclosed waters of beautiful Lake Crackenback (in the heart of the resort) – freshwater fed by mountain springs and a temperate 16-20 degrees.

Mountain Bike | 28.5km (3 x LAPS)
The mountain bike trail is picturesque, snaking its way around the lakes, river and through the Kosciuszko National Park, but there will be no time for sightseeing with plenty of challenging and predominantly narrow terrain requiring technical skill to take on everything including rocky paths, creek crossings and bridges with 80% of it being a single track.

Trail Run | 10KM (3 x LAPS)
Finishing off with 3.3km on your feet, traversing across the banks of Little Thredbo River and looping Race HQ. Short, steep climbs and descents and likely wildlife may make its presence felt with local kangaroos, wombats and emus about. The run leg includes a creek crossing, a river run, a suspension bridge and plenty of obstacles making you feel every single kilometre.
