The beautiful Lake Kawanna on the Sunshine Coast hosted the 15th anniversary of the All Schools Triathlon which included the Queensland Aquathlon Championships.
This year saw more than 840 competitors take to the start line across an action-packed weekend setting a new event participation record showing the popularity of this event in Queensland.
Saturday afternoon was all about swim, run fun with athletes lining up for the Sprint, Enticer, Primary, Kids and Multiclass Aquathlon events on the shore of Lake Kawanna. The windy afternoon conditions made for a little extra challenge in what is usually a calm swim. A big congratulations to those who competed and a special mention to our newly crowned Aquathlon champions.
Day 2 was all about the All Schools Triathlon with the Junior, Intermediate, Senior competitors lining up early on Sunday morning. This event has paved the way for many of Queensland’s top triathletes in recent years and is a proving ground for the next generation of talent in the sport. The results saw many familiar names on the podium with Fletcher Medway and Aspen Anderson taking home the Senior Male and Senior Female titles. In the Intermediate race it was Zahn Spies and Caitlyn Garratt who secured their respective Intermediate Male and Intermediate Female wins. Joshua Algate and Elke Rayward were crowned Junior Male and Junior Female All Schools Triathlon champions for 2023.
