Club pride is on the line at the upcoming Pho3nix QLD Tri Series on Sunday 27 September, with Club Championship honours up for grabs across three categories: large club, medium club and small club.
More than just race results, the Club Championships are about celebrating the strength, spirit and depth of Queensland’s triathlon community. Every athlete who takes to the start line has the opportunity to contribute valuable points towards their club’s overall tally, making participation just as important as podium performances.
From established powerhouse clubs chasing another title to emerging clubs looking to make their mark, the battle for championship glory is set to be one of the most exciting storylines of the day. With bragging rights on the line and every point counting, expect clubs to turn out in force and bring plenty of team spirit to the course.
The Race
We’ve broken down everything you need to know ahead of Club Champs, including how the points system works, which clubs are shaping as the leading contenders, and the new clubs ready to shake up the leaderboard. Whether you’re racing, supporting, or simply following the action, here’s your guide to all things Club Championships.
So how does Club Champs work?
One participation point will be allocated to each eligible participant’s nominated club. To earn a point for your club you must compete in any of the following races:
- Standard Triathlon
- Sprint Triathlon
- Enticer Triathlon
- Pho3nix Kids Triathlon
- Teams
The more participants from your club, the more chances of earning points and taking out the ultimate title.
Recent Championship History
- Team T-Rex: Has been the dominant force in recent years, winning the Large Club Championship every year from 2022-2025. They will be eager to keep that momentum going heading into this season and ensuring they remain the hunted within Queensland.
- Carina Leagues Triathlon Club: Having won the Medium Club Championship in both 2024 and 2025 they’re proving to be a force to be reckoned with, however this year, they’ll have some fresh competition moving up to the Large Club category. The battle between Carina Leagues Triathlon Club and Team T-Rex will definitely be one to keep a close eye on.
- Genesis Multisport, Starfish Tri Athletic, and Be-Energetic Tri & Run Club were the leading Small Club performers in 2025 making for a hotly contested battle.
Clubs to Watch in 2026
- Team T-Rex enters as the benchmark club following its recent Queensland Club Championship success, but that also means they have a big target on their back, making them the club to chase down.
- Carina Leagues Triathlon Club and SSG Multisport continue to be among the state’s strongest club championship performers.
- Noosa Triathlon Club appears poised to be one of the major movers this season, with a strong presence at Moreton Bay.
- Starfish Tri Athletic and Be-Energetic Tri & Run Club also bring significant representation and strong club championship pedigree.
- Bayside Multisport and Red Dog Triathlon Training remain established contenders after years of success in Queensland club competition.
Emerging Clubs and New Faces
Clubs such as GC Social Tri Club, CC3 Training, Helix Triathlon Coaching, Core4Endurance, KOA Sports, The Council, FLOWITRI, and Scatto Endurance add fresh representation to this year’s championship landscape.
The new additions make for an exciting field and fresh competition with each club eager to make a name for themselves and prove they are serious contenders.
