Queensland Sprint Distance State Championships Deliver Thrilling Racing at Robina

The QLD Sprint Distance State Championships brought the heat to Robina on Sunday, January 11, 2026, as athletes went all-out from start to finish in Round 4 of the Pho3nix Queensland Tri Series. The event delivered fast, committed racing across swim, bike, and run, showcasing the incredible depth of talent within Queensland’s triathlon community.

The year featured fierce competition across all age groups, with several titles decided by mere seconds. Among the standout performances, Tamsyn Hill claimed the 20–24 Female Queensland Sprint Championship title, while Charlotte Kane posted the fastest overall female time in the age group categories, stopping the clock at 01:10:47 in the 16–19 division. On the men’s side, Tom Speed dominated the 16–19 category and recorded the fastest overall age group time of the day with an impressive 01:03:22.

One of the most dramatic finishes came in the 35–39 Male category, where the state title was decided by just four seconds. Alex Williams secured victory in 01:16:04, narrowly edging out Ben Nothling, who finished in 01:16:08. This razor-thin margin was not an isolated case with several age groups saw podium places separated by only a handful of seconds, highlighting the intensity and competitiveness of this year’s QLD Sprint Championships.

Looking ahead, the final event in the 2025/26 Queensland State Championship Series promises to be a spectacular conclusion. The iconic Hell of the West will incorporate the Queensland Long Distance Championships, bringing together endurance athletes for one of the toughest and most celebrated races on the calendar.
