Finish Lines Not Finish Times Program 2025/2026 Wrap-Up

10 Jul 2026

LAST SEASON’S FINISH LINES SET TO BECOME START LINES THIS SEASON!

Across New South Wales, our community of clubs once again proved the power of connection, confidence and belonging through the Finish Lines Not Finish Times (FLNFT) Program. Delivered by NSW Triathlon Clubs and proudly supported by funding from the NSW Office of Sport, the 25/26 season saw the program continue its mission of creating low cost, low barrier opportunities for women and girls to try triathlon in a warm, welcoming and community driven environment.

Across the season, 22 NSW Triathlon Clubs delivered FLNFT initiatives, including 14 regional clubs, ensuring women across the State had access to supportive training programs, introductory sessions and women only events designed specifically for first time or returning to sport triathletes.

The result was, once again, extraordinary. A total of 615 women and girls took part in a program or event! And the below stats tell a powerful story of how programs like this continue to drive participation growth in our sport:

95% of participants plan to stay in the sport

38% have already completed their next race

58% plan to race again this season (26/27)

46.5% say they are more active after participating

94% said the warm, welcoming club atmosphere gave them the confidence to take part

These outcomes highlight what FLNFT does best. It removes pressure, celebrates progress and creates a safe space for women to discover what they are capable of.

Here’s a quick snapshot from participants across three programs:

“It was my first tri and a perfect way to get a taste of what triathlon is. The organisers were so welcoming, and willing to answer any questions. The support and encouragement at the FLNFT event was amazing. It’s definitely made me want to join the club and do club events next season.”
Newcastle Tri Club

“It was an excellent event, my second tri and my daughter’s first. A great way to introduce new people to the sport in a low-pressure way.”
Balance Tri Club

“This FLNFT women’s only event was really amazing. It was my first time in open water, and the coach and other swimmers made me feel comfortable and supported. I also got some really valuable skills out of the event that helped me through my first tri.”
Tomaree Tri Club

These stories reflect the heart of this program. Women supporting women, clubs championing community, and triathlon becoming a place where everyone feels they belong.

Proudly Supported by the NSW Office of Sport
NSW Triathlon extends its sincere thanks to the NSW Office of Sport for the funding that enables this program to thrive. Their support plays a vital role in growing female participation, strengthening club membership and ensuring triathlon remains an inclusive sport for all.

We’re incredibly proud of what Finish Lines Not Finish Times has achieved, and continues to achieve, across the State. The program has built momentum, shaped a culture and proved when community leads, confidence follows. We cannot wait to see where these women go next, and we are honoured to be part of their journey.
