NSW Triathlon is excited to announce the 22 clubs receiving funding to deliver Finish Lines, Not Finish Times during the 2026/2027 season. This is a continued commitment to creating environments to encourage more women and girls to try triathlon through beginner-friendly programs, skills sessions and welcoming events.
Since 2019, the program has become one of our most successful participation initiatives, creating low-cost, low-pressure opportunities to try triathlon in an environment where encouragement and community matter more than results.

Something for every first-time triathlete
Participants will have access to women-only training opportunities provided by accredited AusTriathlon coaches, triathlon and aquathlon events, introductory club races and social opportunities. Highlights planned for this season include:
- A mothers and daughters event at Ocean Dragons, with individual, pairs and relay options
- An eight-week women-only program at Balmoral, supported by coaching, mentoring and club integration
- Women-only waves at Cronulla club races, backed by a full program of skills and training
- A women-only triathlon at Port Macquarie pairing first-timers with experienced club members
- Collaborative programs between Moore Performance and Coogee
- A strong regional program implementation – thanks to Bathurst, Dubbo, Singleton, Tamworth, Yamba and Yass Valley
Different approaches, one shared goal: removing the uncertainty and pressure that stops someone giving triathlon a go.
Building on another outstanding season
In 2025/2026, 22 clubs, delivered the program to 615 women and girls. Afterwards, 95% planned to stay involved in triathlon, 58% planned to race again this season, and 94% said the welcoming club environment gave them the confidence to take part.
What began as a pilot with 11 clubs is now a statewide initiative recognised by the NSW Office of Sport through its “Showstopper” programs.
NSW Triathlon CEO Adam Wicks said the quality of applications showed how strongly clubs believed in the program.
“We are incredibly proud to invest almost $25,000 into these 22 clubs. More importantly, we are proud of the coaches, volunteers and club members who will turn that investment into positive and potentially life-changing experiences for women across NSW.
“This funding helps our clubs remove barriers, strengthen their communities and show women and girls that triathlon is a sport where they belong.”
More than a finish line
For some, the goal will be a first swim, ride or run. For others, returning to activity, joining a club, or racing alongside a daughter or friend. Whatever the starting point, the team of 2026/2027 will be supported by clubs, accredited coaches and volunteers, there to ensure they reach the finish line.
