The 2025 Triathlon World Championship Finals in Wollongong have officially wrapped, and what a celebration of sport, spirit, and community it was!
Over four unforgettable days, the Illawarra coastline transformed into a global stage, welcoming elite athletes, rising stars, the world’s best para competitors, legends of our sport, and age group competitors from around the world.
But for Triathlon NSW, the true magic was in experiencing so much local heartbeat: the competitors from clubs around the State, and those not competing who became a workforce of passionate volunteers, Technical Officials, and vocal spectators, helping bring the event to life!
Working side-by-side with both global and local event organiser; special shout out to the team at Elite Energy Events, our AusTriathlon colleagues, local schools and sponsors of the sport across the event, was such a highlight.
From sunrise swim starts, to evening fun runs, and roaring finish line crowds, spectators lined the streets and beaches, creating a wall of sound and energy that lifted every athlete. Whether cheering for World Champions or first-time finishers, the support was deeply appreciated by all.
Wollongong proved itself not just a world-class host city, but a proud home for triathlon. The course challenged, the views inspired, and the community welcomed and delivered.
Triathlon NSW is immensely proud to have played a part in this historic event. Thank you to every athlete, Technical Official, volunteer, and supporter who made it unforgettable.
The future of triathlon in our state is brighter than ever.
Stay tuned for a complete wrap up of all our new NSW World Champions here and on social coming soon!
