‘Finish Lines…Not Finish Times’ Program Returns for 2024/2025
The widely celebrated Finish Lines…Not Finish Times (FLNFT) program is back for the 2024/2025 season, continuing its mission to empower and inspire women through triathlon.
Launched in 2019, this initiative has grown significantly to include pre-event training, education sessions, and skills development. Delivered by local clubs and AusTriathlon-accredited coaches, FLNFT has introduced thousands of women to triathlon, with many becoming lifelong participants through local clubs. This effort underscores Triathlon NSW’s commitment to fostering a gender-inclusive sporting community.
With support from the NSW Office of Sport, 17 clubs—12 regional and 5 Sydney-based—will participate this season. Each program is designed to reduce barriers, create opportunities, and provide welcoming environments for women and girls.
A Grassroots Approach to Growth
NSW Triathlon CEO Adam Wicks praised the program’s grassroots success, emphasising the role of club volunteers:
“What makes this program exceptional is its community-driven approach. Clubs decide what works best for their members and local area. Thanks to the NSW Office of Sport and the Organisational Support Program, we can empower these clubs to create inclusive and encouraging events. Their dedication is the true heart of this program’s success.”
Local Success Stories
The President of Yass Valley Triathlon Club, Sarah Watson, shared how FLNFT has transformed her community. The club’s 2024 program engaged over 70 women, fostering camaraderie and growth.
“The FLNFT program provided women in our community with a supportive environment to challenge themselves. Following its success, four new triathletes completed their first competitive race at Challenge Canberra, and two others achieved personal milestones at the Stromlo 15km run. It’s been a springboard for our club’s growth and impact.”
Celebrating Club Involvement
Triathlon NSW extends heartfelt thanks to the NSW Office of Sport, the Triathlon NSW Board, and all participating clubs for their continued support.
