An old proverb goes ‘As the sun rises, so must it set’.
And so, the sun is set to rise on Sydney Interclub Premier and League 1, with all eyes on IRONMAN Western Sydney 70.3, scheduled for this weekend.
To motivate, excite and enthuse you all, the Sydney Leagues has a promotion and relegation system in place which is a homage back to our previous employees English heritage and one of his true loves – the ‘English Premier League’.
After Interclub 06, three clubs have made the the triumphant move upwards from Sydney Triathlon League 1 to what they would consider their rightful position in the Sydney Triathlon Premier League.
The crowd goes wild as the Manly Vipers, Balmoral TC and Moore Performance Triathlon Club get a chance to mix it with the biggest and most successful clubs, including Warringah Waves (TNSW Club Champs in Div 1 2024) and the four times STPL champions Sydney Tri Giants, taking home ICL02, ICL03, ICL04 and ICL06.
STG were relatively disappointing in Interclub 05 and they proved that that was just a slight blip in their overall goals.
Led by their president Daniel X James, Daniel advised us that their goal was to be out in force all season across all events all season. They didn’t shy away from their goal – winning the double including their division at the NSW Triathlon Club Champs and also the Premier League!
But as the saying goes ‘what goes up, must come down’? Will they stay at top? Will Brighton Baths make the surge required to take the victory? Only time will tell.
To make way for the three clubs coming up, three clubs must taste the bitterness of relegation, as they are slide back down towards League 1.
Much like a grumpy man sends cold soup back at a Deli, so too will these clubs be grumpy, annoyed and disappointed. They’ll be desperate for this season to commence to prove their neighsayers wrong!
It’s a dissapointing slide for Coogee Comets, Balance Bolt and Team Mac Tri as they head downwards, ready to lick their wounds.
At least they can put their head on the pillow at night happy in the knowledge that they have the chance to reset, resettle and work out a strategy to get back up in 2024/2025.
Can any of these clubs achieve this? Well find out come this weekend.
More to come shortly.
