NSW Triathlon Club Champs just over two months away
The event that brings together the NSW Triathlon clubs and communities is just over two months away. Returning to the spectacular seaside town of Forster on Worimi Country, the 2024 NSW Triathlon Club Champs will swim, ride and run on Saturday 25th May.
This event also doubles up as a ‘grand finale’ for all NSW Interclub Leagues, meaning that a strong turnout can either cement a clubs position on the ladder or move and shake things up in a region.
Remaining the only event held annually in Australia, where you must hold a Standard (or Premium) membership with AusTriathlon, NSW Triathlon and a local club, it will once again feature the ‘Club Distance’, ‘Half Club Distance’, ‘Kids Events’ and opportunities for clubs to enter teams. Clubs can enter a team into either the Half or Full Club Distance which is ideal if the club has athletes who aren’t quite up to doing the event across all three legs or are coming back from an injury.
Featuring a special swim off Forster Main Beach, cycle through the quiet suburban streets of Forster and experience a truly iconic run across Forster/ Tuncurry bridge as the local dolphins’ cruise through the turquoise blue water off the beach.
And we’ll dance the night away at Club Forster, with what is undoubtably and undeniably, the best end of season party in Triathlon.
So what’s new for the 2024 edition?
- The Full Club Distance will start at 9 am, allowing for those who wish to limit their travel expenses to drive into town the morning of the event. It will also ensure the sun is up and it’s warmer than previous iterations.
- Event ambassador Craig ‘Crowie’ Alexander will run two sessions leading into the event which are free to all NSW Triathlon Members to hear from one of Australia (and NSW’s) greatest champion triathletes.
- Athletes can either select to have an official event T-Shirt with their entry, or make the decision to contribute the same amount of $$$ value back to Crowie’s charities of choice. For 2024, he’s chosen TriMob and the Starlight Foundation and all money raised will be split 50/50 between these two incredibly worthwhile causes and charities.
- As well as our regular divisional winners, we’ll merge in the NSW Triathlon Interclub League winners into the presentation, making it one huge celebration of clubs and the members who’ve excelled!
- The addition of an ‘unofficial Club Dance Floor’ champion, selected by NSW Triathlon staff including Membership and Participation Manager, Tom Bonnafoux and Member Engagement and Communications Coordinator, Adelaide Anderson.
With 34 clubs already having entered athletes, it’s shaping up to be a highlight of the season and the culmination of what has been a pretty awesome summer of events.
