The Sunshine Coast lined up a beautiful sunny day that made for great racing conditions in the Queensland Cross Triathlon State Championships.
In2Adventure TreX Sunshine Coast hosted an impressive event for competitors on 26 October in Landsborough, with the Ewen Maddock Dam creating a picture-perfect background for racing.
After sustaining an injury to her collarbone that kept her sidelined for the Multisport World Championships in Townsville in August, Tamika Baynes had a successful first race back, finishing as the first placed female and the 20-24 Age Group Champion.
“I had so much fun from the moment I got there, everyone was super friendly and everything felt so well organised and relaxed,” said Baynes.
“The event was great, the race briefing was clear, there was plenty of time to check in and set up transitions, and warm up before starting.
“I didn’t have any expectations of myself because it was my first race back since breaking my collarbone, so I was just so excited to be there on the start line and happy to be back racing.
“I loved the course because I like when a course has multiple laps so this was perfect, I got to go past the spectators multiple times which is always fun and motivating, the whole course was really well marked out.
“I had the best day ever, and as soon as I woke up I knew it was going to be a good day, the weather was perfect and the vibes were high.”
AusTriathlon extends a heartfelt thank you to In2Adventure TreX Sunshine Coast for hosting the QLD Cross Triathlon Championships. We are also incredibly grateful to the volunteers for their dedication and hard work.
