The Gold Coast showcased a picture perfect day for racing with sunshine guiding competitors as they took to the course in Robina for the 2024 Queensland Sprint Championships.
Held on Sunday 17 November, and organised by The Event Crew, the race was a great success and enjoyed by all competitors.
Competing in the 16-17 Male age group, Fletcher Medway had a dominant race finishing first, with his strong swim helping him get out in front.
“I think it was my swim that helped me most against these guys,” Medway said.
“I also love the slightly longer bike leg for the sprint distance at Robina of 24km, and the long straight roads where we can get some good speed going.
“I’ve been racing at Robina since I was 8 in the Kool Kids so it’s more than familiar to me!”
The event also saw Fletcher come up against many of his training partners, who battled through the hot conditions to earn themselves positive individual results.
“I was pleased to have the overall win at Robina on Sunday in the sprint distance,” he said.
“Getting to go up against some very tough competitors, in very hot and humid conditions for everyone was a good challenge.
“Daniel Smith, along with my training buddies Cooper Carswell and Zahn Spies had great races as well.
“Thanks to the Event Crew for yet another fun and well organised event!”
