Australia celebrated another milestone on the Road to Paris with the confirmation of its place in the Olympic Mixed Relay triathlon event.
With the Mixed Relay Olympic Qualification Rankings officially closed as of March 25, Australia has secured fifth position in the Olympic Mixed Relay rankings.
Australia has now automatically guaranteed a Mixed Team Relay start at the upcoming Games, plus two male and two female quota spots in the individual races as a result.
One of those quota spots has been secured by Matt Hauser, who earned his place through his impressive performance, clinching a top-eight finish at last year’s World Triathlon Grand Final in Pontevedra.
Individual athletes have one last shot to secure automatic nomination for the Olympics at the upcoming World Triathlon Championship Series in Yokohama. Achieving a top-eight finish in Yokohama will guarantee them a spot in the Games
Any remaining team spots will be filled by the AusTriathlon Elite Selection Committee (ESC) through discretionary nomination.
