Elite Selection Committee and Elite Athletes’ Commission welcome new members

AusTriathlon is pleased to announce the latest appointments to the Elite Selection Committee (ESC) and Elite Athletes’ Commission (EAC).

Elite Selection Committee:

Tokyo 2020 Paralympian Jonathan Goerlach PLY joins the ESC, bringing a wealth of experience from his distinguished para triathlon career.

Additionally, recently appointed High Performance Director, Shaun Stephens, will serve as an ex-officio member of the committee.

These new appointments join existing ESC Anabelle Luxford (Chair), Michellie Jones OLY AM, Dr. Sarah Butcher, Dr. Daniel Wilson, and Patrick Murphy OLY.

The ESC is responsible for the selection of Elite, Para, Under 23, and Junior Australian teams in accordance with the sport’s selection policies.

This includes selections for World Triathlon Championship Series events, World Triathlon Para Series events, World Triathlon World Championship events, as well as the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Elite Athletes’ Commission:

Liam Twomey PLY has been reappointed as Chair of the EAC, continuing his leadership in advocating for elite athletes.

New members Anu Francis PLY and Chris Deegan join the commission, bringing fresh perspectives and experience. High Performance Director, Shaun Stephens, also joins as an ex-officio member.

They will work alongside existing EAC members Liam Twomey PLY (Chair) Emma Jeffcoat OLY, Luke Willian OLY, and Jeremy Peacock PLY to support and represent the elite athlete community.

Departing members David Bryant PLY and Charlotte McShane are thanked for their contributions, dedication, and service to the commission.

The EAC plays a vital role in advising the AusTriathlon Board on issues affecting elite athletes, providing leadership and guidance to ensure athlete needs are met.
