Play It Safe By The Water’s (PISBTW) long-standing partnership with triathlon in Victoria will again be on display at the inaugural Frankston Swim Classic held on Saturday 10 February, in conjunction with the Frankston Waterfront Festival.
In partnership with Mornington Peninsula Tri Club, the event will feature open water swim distances of 400m, 1.2km and 2.5km, providing opportunities for novice and experienced swimmers to participate.
AusTriathlon’s Head of Victoria, Murray Newham, is thrilled to have the event on the season calendar.
“I’m very excited about the inclusion of the Frankston Swim Classic this season, and it’s great that our PISBTW funding can help support this event.”
“Water safety is such an important aspect of life, particularly over summer in Victoria when everyone spends so much time around water, we’re glad this event can help distribute that message to our community. With Mornington Peninsula Tri Club supporting the delivery of the event, we have no doubt it will be a huge success, and the first of many Franskton Swim Classics.”
Whilst the minimum age to participate in the swim is 12 (for the 400m swim), the event caters for the entire family, with music, mascots, food, giveaways and more. The swim starts at the Frankston Yacht Club, the prime location to take advantage of the wonderful Frankston Waterfront Festival that starts after the swim.
