Australia has enjoyed its most successful day yet at the World Triathlon Multisport Championships in Pontevedra, adding three world titles and six medals from the Aquathlon events to take the country’s medal tally to 15.

Queensland’s Mia Caple (Female 16-19), Western Australia’s Katya Anderson (Female 35-39), and New South Wales’ David Inverach (Male 80-84) led the charge, each claiming gold and the tile of World Champion in their respective categories.

For Anderson, the pride of representing Australia was matched by the ‘outstanding’ feeling after winning the world title.

“It’s amazing – incredible,” Anderson said post-race.

“I’m honoured and very happy to represent Australia but also to receive the gold is just outstanding.

Inverach was equally thrilled with his victory, describing it as both surprising and deeply rewarding.

“It’s really surprising and feels really good,” he said.

“I owe it to so many people who have helped me, I can’t wait to tell them and thank them.”

Adding to Australia’s Aquathlon success was the Australia Capital Territory’s Lachlan Lewis (Male 55-59) who secured a silver medal.

New South Wales’ Kelsey Langdon (Female 25-29) and Victoria’s Abi Cleland (Female 50-54) also earned bronze medals.

Australia’s medal tally at the World Triathlon Multisport Championships now climbs to an impressive 15 – including seven gold, four silver, and four bronze medals.

The action continues on Sunday with the Long Distance and Aquabike events, bringing the curtain down on an action-packed week in Pontevedra.
