When a setback sets the path for gold!
For Concord Triathlon Club’s Anthon Wilson, the road to a world title in Wollongong didn’t follow the traditional script. A winter foot stress fracture forced him off the run track, but instead of derailing his season, he used it to sharpen his focus. With running off the table, Anthon poured his energy into refining his cycling form – turning a setback into the very thing that propelled him to the top step of the 30–34 Aquabike podium.
That adaptability, paired with calm race execution, saw him deliver a performance that spoke louder than any pre‑race predictions. But even with gold around his neck, the moment that meant the most wasn’t his own result. It was sharing the podium with his sister, Lauren, who claimed silver in the women’s 30–34 category. A family double on the world stage is rare, special, and something these siblings won’t forget!
His race‑day routine is simple and reliable: Coffee. Banana. Energy gel.
A small ritual that signals it’s time to switch on. A fresh pair of goggles for every major competition.
Anthony’s Wollongong win showcased resilience, smart training and the power of turning challenges into strengths
