We’re excited to announce that Finish Lines…Not Finish Times is returning for another season.
Over the past seven years, this much-loved and highly supported initiative has helped thousands of women take their first steps into triathlon, providing a welcoming, supportive, and encouraging environment where participation comes first and confidence grows naturally.
Developed and delivered through the strength of our local club network, the program continues to break down barriers that can prevent women from becoming involved in triathlon. Through beginner-friendly training opportunities, skills sessions, mentoring, and women’s-focused events, participants are supported every step of the way by local clubs, coaches, volunteers, and fellow participants.
What makes Finish Lines…Not Finish Times so special is that it focuses on the experience rather than the result. It’s about trying something new, building friendships, improving physical and mental wellbeing, and discovering what is possible when you have a community behind you.
Many participants arrive with little or no experience in triathlon. Some are returning to sport after many years away, while others are simply looking for a new challenge. Regardless of where they start, the program provides a pathway into a sport that is supportive, inclusive, and welcoming to people of all backgrounds and abilities.
The impact of the program continues to be seen across NSW. Participants regularly progress into club membership, ongoing training groups, and future events, creating stronger club communities and helping to grow female participation throughout the sport.
NSW Triathlon CEO Adam Wicks said he was incredibly proud of the impact the program has had across communities throughout New South Wales and excited about what lies ahead.
“Finish Lines…Not Finish Times continues to be one of the most rewarding programs we deliver as an organisation. Every season we see hundreds of women step outside their comfort zone, discover what they are capable of, and form lasting connections through their local triathlon club.”
“I’d like to sincerely thank the NSW Office of Sport for their ongoing support, as well as the incredible clubs, coaches and volunteers who bring this program to life in communities right across the state. Their passion and commitment create welcoming environments where women feel supported from day one.”
“We’re excited to launch another season and look forward to seeing even more women and girls experience the physical, social and mental health benefits that come from being part of our sport. Most importantly, we’re looking forward to seeing new friendships formed, new confidence gained, and many more finish lines crossed.”
NSW Triathlon is once again inviting affiliated clubs to apply for funding to deliver Finish Lines…Not Finish Times programs throughout the 2026/2027 season. Whether your club is looking to build on previous success or deliver the program for the first time, we encourage you to get involved and help introduce even more women to the benefits of triathlon.
Together, our clubs are creating opportunities for women to discover new strengths, build lasting connections, and experience the incredible achievement of crossing a finish line for the very first time.
