Mercer and Malowiecki looking to back it up on the Gold Coast

17 Apr 2026

Gold Coast will play host to another blockbuster weekend of racing – albeit this time at Runaway Bay as the Oceania Triathlon SuperSprint Championships and Cup takes place from the 18-19 of April.

Hot off the back of a stellar win at the Elite Sprint Championships on the Gold Coast, Brayden Mercer will be looking to add to his list of accolades with a strong showing on home soil before jetting off overseas for the remainder of the calendar season.

After finishing second and third respectively Jayden and Luke Schofield will be looking to flip the script and claim that top gong this weekend at the SuperSprint Championships.

Meanwhile young guns such as Jack Woodberry, Oliver Moxon and Ben Devries will be vying for the junior men’s title.

It’s a stacked women’s field with Sophie Malowiecki entering the race in ripping form after securing the Australian Elite Sprint Championship title and the 2026 Oceania Triathlon Cup on the Gold Coast last week.

She’s not the only one to keep an eye out for with Charlotte Derbyshire, Tara Sosinski and Aspen Anderson all eager to add another title to their belt.

In the junior women Queensland locals Hannah Pollock and Elke Rayward are familiar with the course, having raced at Runaway Bay at the backend of last year while Western Australia’s Ava Henville will want to leave a lasting impact on the competition.

While boasting a strong Australian cohort of athletes across the Elite/U23 there’s no shortage of international representation across both the women’s and men’s field especially from our cross-ditch neighbours New Zealand with the likes of Saxon Morgan gearing up once again and youngster Caleb Wagner. Meanwhile athletes from Samoa and Ireland are also ready to hit the course.

Stay up to date with all the latest results.
