Lauren Parker has reconfirmed her standing as one of New South Wales’ greatest ever athletes, winning Sport NSW’s Athlete of the Year with a Disability award for the fourth time at the NSW Champions of Sport Ceremony.
Parker joins wheelchair racer Kurt Fearnley as a four-time winner of the award – just one title behind five-time Award winner, wheelchair tennis great, David Hall.
She showed her dominance in both the longer and short forms of para-triathlon completing an undefeated international season. Her remarkable unbeaten run now extends to an impressive 14 victories.
Crowned the 2023 World Champion with her fourth consecutive title in Pontevedra, her golden run continued at the Paris Para World Cup, where she won took top honours on the course that will host the 2024 Paralympic Games.
Parker continued to build on her remarkable career becoming a World Champion in a second sport, para-cycling, winning hand-cycling gold in the H3 individual time trial at the UCI World Championships in August.
